Verbal Behavior

Verbal Behavior Training is a method of teaching language that focuses on how to functionally connect words with their purpose.  For example, a child may be able to say juice when they see a picture of juice but may not be able to say juice when they are thirsty and in need of a drink.  Receptive and expressive language skills are developed through verbal behavior training. This approach follows a child’s own motivation, teaching the child to communicate for what he or she wants, decreasing frustrations that often lead to problem behavior.

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst will conduct a language assessment to determine what skills your child currently has, and what skills need to be taught.  Based on the assessment, an individual program will be created to help increase your child’s communication across various domains
