Child Centered Therapy

During our initial meeting, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst will meet with your family to discuss your child’s history, current challenges, and goals for therapy.  This first session is to help us gain information that will determine how we can best help your family.  We will observe your child’s interactions and conduct a brief assessment of skills.

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst will use the information gathered during the initial meeting and subsequent observations, to develop a behavior plan that is right for your child and family.  The behavior plan will include a summary of assessment, outline of skills to be taught, summary of behaviors targeted for decrease, as well as corresponding behavior management strategies.

We will work on decreasing problem behaviors and replacing them with new skills that serve the same function. For example, instead of screaming and crying to gain access to a favorite toy, we will teach your child how to appropriately communicate to get their needs and wants met. Your child’s progress will be continuously monitored, and adjustments will be made to their program along the way to achieve the most successful outcome.
